My daughter has an iphone 4. She has had it for a year. Phone is freezing alot for long periods of time, pictures won't send or receive, apps will crash a few seconds after it opens and she can never use them. Her text messages don't send or take along time to get there. She is also having difficulty receiving texts and when she does they pop up and then disappear in the conversation?? She has tried restarting her phone but this has been going on for about a week. Not sure if we can fix the problems or if she will need a new phone. We are still under a contract so hoping we can fix it. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you

Has she downloaded the latest iOS? I forget if the 4 can get iOS 8. If it can, and she did, then it could be an issue with the new software not being optimized for older iPhones...switching back to an older OS would likely solve the issue if this is the case.

At any rate I don't believe Koodo has any contracts...you just pay month to month. If you have any $$ remaining on your tab, just pay that off and you can get whatever phone you like (though obviously certain phones cost more than others).

Thank you for the info! She has not downloaded the latest IOS.... lots of issues though, may need to take it in. Sorry you are right, no contract just $$ remaining on tab. I appreciate it, thanks.

Or complete a restore from backup in iTunes.

Thank you! She is trying to backup, is that the same as restore, (sorry not good at this stuff... lol) but she says it keeps canceling on her. I think we will need to take it in. Hate that it is only a year old, thought it should last longer than that. Thanks for the answer, I appreciate it.

You would restore from a successful backup. Doing a backup of a troublesome phone has the possibility of putting the problems into the backup, making a restore less than useful. If a backup was not completed in the (recent) past, then a restore to factory settings and manual rebuild may be the next best option.

She could also try to reboot the phone by holding the sleep button and the home button simultaneously until it restarts. Sleep button is the one on the top of the phone.
