If I had known my minutes would be lost I would have kept my prepaid number and get another number for the post paid phone

Hey Sian. Its too late for your prepaid minutes, they are gone. It was cancelled the second you started the port (transfering your number) to postpaid. You can switch back to prepaid and port your number back but you'll need to buy a new prepaid sim card and buy more minutes; you wont get what you had back.

I guess the person selling the phone should have explain that to me I will just return the post paid phone and switch to another network feel cheated and robbed

Sorry you feel that way. The rep would have had no possible way of knowing you would want to switch back to prepaid. No one would. Next time, just ask the rep. Good luck on another network if you do but the same thing applies at every carrier. Assuming something works in a certain way never usually ends up the way we want it

I think sales rep should told/explained you about your prepaid account and booster will be gone as soon as you port your number.
But why did you open a postpaid account?  Because you pay a little less to get a new phone with postpaid price?
If you really feel cheated and robbed, I would return a phone and  looking for a new company.

Actually i'd feel a little cheated too... I believe most companies offer to add the prepaid amount to your credit when you move to postpaid. I wish Koodo did too! It would be an incentive to move to postpaid and make the customer feel less cheated. Win-win :D

We're talking about the minutes (boosters), not a 'credit balance'. Of course if there was a credit it should be applied to the postpaid account which I believe they do

No, you can't.
From Koodo's site:

Can prepaid customers participate in the referral program?

No. You must be a Koodo Postpaid customer to participate, and your friend must activate a Koodo Postpaid account.
