Prepaid data booster add on and switching off data on Blackberry Q5 questions

I currently have the $15 monthly base plan which includes unlimited texting. My add on is the 100 Canada wide min for $10 a month.

I use wifi at home, malls etc. However I'm considering the 500 mb data booster for $20.00. I bought a top up card for $25.00 yesterday.

Do I top up my account first with the top up card, then select the data booster add on?

When my data is used up and I decide I don't need this booster anymore am I able change/delete it on prepaid self serve or do I call customer service?

My phone is a Blackberry Q5. If I'm in an area with free wifi is there a way to switch off data so I can save it?

Thanks!

The data boosters don't auto renew so if you run out you'll have to add another booster and they also never expire so as long as you keep your base plan going you can use up your booster.

Yes you need to top off first before adding a booster

When you're on wifi your BlackBerry is set to use wifi instead of network data.

But if you want to shut it off.

Pull down from the top of the home screen and tap mobile network.
There is a switch there to shut it off.

Thanks Chad!

So if I'm in a mall and want to use wifi instead of my data, I shut off (turn to off) the data services setting? As pictured above. What about the section, as pictured above, "Data services while roaming" It shows prompt do I shut that off too? Or is that only when visiting outside of Canada?

You only need to connect to wifi which will over ride your data.

I only provided the photo so you could see where to turn off data if you choose to, but it's not necessary.

I recommend that if your roaming data services are off leave them off. I choose prompt because I'm a truck.driver and frequently roam in the usa.

You're on prepaid and can't data roam so it doesn't matter.
