hi there, I'm new to Koodo and I just set up pre-authorized payments. My bill is due November 4th and right now it says "next pre-authorized payment: November 4th"... does that mean the bill will be paid on time? Do pre-authorized payments usually happen the day it's due? I feel like it should be paid earlier... I'm not sure whether I should just do a one-time payment for the first month, what do you think?

It usually takes one full billing cycle before pre-auth payments take effect. If it hasn't been one full cycle since you've setup the PAP, then you should err on the safe side and make the payment manually. By the next cycle, the PAP should be in place.

Worse case, you will have paid twice for this month, but the credit balance will be used to lower the bill for the following month.

Pre-auth payments typically do come out on the due date. They typically require one full billing cycle to take effect though, so to be safe you should make the first payment manually. Be aware though that while pre auth cc payments are put through the day of, pre auth debit requests are sent to the bank up to a week in advance to be processed on the due date. i.e. if the automatic payments are taken directly from your bank account you should make any manual payments at least a week ahead of time to make sure you don't get double charged.

I guess koodo needs to fix their message then. Amanda states that she sees the next payment to come off her credit card. As you both mentioned that will likely not happen because of how long per-auth takes to set up. If she hadn't posted here she likely would have missed her first payment. There must be lots of others in a similar situation, shouldn't someone tell koodo to fix that?

Yes it actually does say "Next preauthrozed payment date: November 4"... which is the day the bill is due. AND, I don't think that that message was there before (or I didn't notice it at least...). Is there any way pre-authorized payments could take effect in a week? Should I just do a regular payment for this month and if I get a credit on the account, then oh well? Anybody have any idea of how to cancel pre-authorized payments if I don't like it?

If you want to cancel pre-authorized payments, you'll have to call Koodo at 1-866-995-6636 or *611 from your Koodo phone.
