Porting and Cancellation with Rogers

I was told that when i port my number through koodo from rogers that Koodo takes care of that and my services with rogers will automatically cancel. Does rogers have to authorize my number to be eligible to port? Can this only be done once my contract is over?

Hi Katelyn, Canadian providers have no choice in the matter - most numbers (with a few exceptions) can be ported from any provider to any provider. Rogers doesn't need to authorize anything.

When you port to Koodo, it will automatically cancel your account with Rogers... but you will have to make sure you won't have to pay a cancellation fee with them - Koodo won't assist you there :)

It is also worthwhile to know that your service should be kept "alive" with your current provider before you switch. Your new provider will port your number and take care of the cancellation of your old service for you.
