I just confirm something about bill payments. My bill cycle ends in a few days but if I was to switch out before the bill cycle end date, I would only get charged up to today assuming I port my number to another carrier today as well?

That's correct. It would be pro rated to a partial charge based on the day of porting out.

You have the option to get billed up to the port out date or until the end of the billing cycle.

Note that if you port out when not at the end of you billing cycle and choose to get billed to the port out date, that your minutes and data will be pro-rated till that day and may result in overages

Okay so right now, I went over my minutes and was charged overages($12.00). I have not used minutes once I realized I went over. I am on the $30 base plan.

Based on this info, I would have to pay the monthly rate(30) + 12.00 + tax if I were to port out today correct?

So 28 of 31 days will give you 90 minutes.

If you port out today, anything over 90 minutes will be overage

How do I see this option if I wish it pro-rated? I received a troubling email today that no adjustments will be made. My new billing cycle started on December 9.

http://crtc.gc.ca/eng/phone/mobile/co...

Ctrl-f to get to the part about cancellation or porting out.
G. Contract cancellation and extension
5. Cancellation date
ii. Cancellation takes effect on the day that the service provider receives notice of the cancellation.

Port out = notice of cancellation

What Koodo's computers do is they suspend your number until the end of your billing cycle, and then actually cancel it at the end of your billing cycle, making it look like you did not cancel until that day, so they get free money.

When you call Koodo, are they going to ding the customer for speaking to them about this?

It is funny because when i called before the promo where you could actually talk to someone, they said their computers would automatically adjust this lol

if any of you have issues ccts - already spoke to them and they told me to wait for the bill and than escalate
