Porting home number from Bell to take 4 days! Why so long

I went to Koodo on Thurs to port my home Bell phone to a Koodo home line. I was told not to expect it to take place right away as Bell usually will try and hold up the process. Today still nothing so I called Bell. They told me that the porting would not take place until Tuesday and Koodo was the one who chose this date. Who is correct? Why does a land line take so long to port? If it does take place on Tuesday that's 5 days and totally unacceptable.

You probably won't get a definitive answer on this one unfortunately.

Typically what Bell does for ports is schedule a day/time to "release" the number where Koodo will be able to pick it up right away. Bell probably gave them a bunch of days past Tuesday as well so it might of been the earliest time that Bell would be willing to do it. It might just be my bias talking here, but I'd like to blame Bell for this one.

I could type paragraphs on my family's dealings with bell and what they are doing to Teksavvy atm with porting outright not available in certain locations and how they circumvent Teksavvy's much lower international calling rates to certain locations. Long story short I am contractually obligated, and as a knee jerk reaction, to place 100% of the blame on Bell.

When I ported my land line from Rogers to Koodo, It took 3 business days. I also started porting on Thursday and completed on Monday.

Janice, I see the activation in our system that took place on the 29th. Bell has been dragging their feet to release numbers in a timely fashion. Totally unacceptable and we had given them a heads up to stop it. It took me 3 days to finally part from them as well with my home phone. It's the line ending with 99 that you are looking to port in, correct?

Yes that's the number. I just wanted Koodo to know that when we called Bell this morning they blamed Koodo for the delay. I also got a couple of emails from them asking me to reconsider.

Off course they would blame Koodo. But you already set up your home phone account with Koodo, Koodo just have to wait that Bell release your number ;)

They will call you , mail you to get you back for awhile with some bundle or discount deal.
( I got those from Rogers too when I ported out)
