Please consider implementing a notification service or an auto-upgrade when the limit on airtime is approaching.

My most recent bill was a real shocker, at over $160 vs my usual flat rate of $25, due to going over my plan's minutes. I realize I'm able to check my usage online so I'm not complaining about the bill. However, had I known I was using this much air time this month I certainly would have upgraded my plan.

I'll save the details, but to say I've been busy recently is an understatement. Checking my remaining cell phone minutes has been the last thing on my mind.

Had a notification system or automatic upgrade been in place, similar to what Koodo offers with data, I would have been able to save over $100.

Since I can track my usage in real time online, and Koodo already offers this service for data users, I assume it wouldn't be difficult to implement it.

Yes it would be great, I agree. The only problem I see is that the system is supposedly hours behind in keeping track and keeping the app / self serve updated. I am not sure what phone you have but you might want to check to see of there is an app that can provide a more localized version of this for you. Sort of like 3g watchdog which monitors data use.

Good luck

My account appears to update instantly Chad, but that may not always be the case I suppose. I will look into your suggestion for an app, thanks.

I don't like to think that such a notification system is possible but not being implemented solely so that Koodo can ding us for all those extra minutes. Trying not to be a skeptic when it comes to cell phone companies is difficult, though I've found Koodo to be refreshingly different so far. Here's hoping they step up on this one.

In the meantime you can download an app called DroidStats to track your minutes and data: https://play.google.com/store/apps/de...

Really handy if you have an android device. There are other apps for iphone or blackberry too.

The problem with auto-upgrading is there would be a ton of proration. When you switch to a rate plan with more minutes, the old rate plan airtime would prorated which would cause additional airtime charges. Airtime that you are billed for the month is for the entire month, not just the period that you finish using it on.

I cant even track my minutes with Koodo. They say it is due to location. Nova Scotia. So that would be a good starting place

That has to do with the native provider in that area.

Yup, but Koodo still tracks my usage so it is not like they couldn't let me do it as well, even though the update might be delayed
