Please stay on the line while your call is completed. Long distance charges may apply. Why did the warning messages start? Ken

I have been a Koodo customer for one year. I never had a message before making local calls.
Three days ago this message started before each local call.
Quote: "Please stay on the line while your call is completed. Long distance charges may apply."
I have a Canada-wide plan with free calls after 5:pm and weekends.
Why did these warning messages start?

Thanks,
Ken

I'm surprised you haven't gotten them until now. Perhaps your local calling area changed recently? Either way it doesn't matter.

Basically the phone switch system can't tell what kind of plan you have, so when you call any # outside of your local calling area, it issues a generic message stating that charges "may" apply. Since you have a Canada wide plan, this isn't an issue for you.

If you don't want to hear the warning, dial the '1' in front of the number.
