Plan-Switch Date Options?

Hey Koodo,

Loving the new promo plans - I might jump on the new $45 plan.

Anyhow, I'd like to suggest that you consider giving customers the option of WHEN their Plan-Change take effect.

e.g., If I want to sign up for a new Plan (and say, you make the decision halfway through your billing cycle), give the option of when you want to make the change effective:
a) Effective Immediately (be advised that pro-ration may apply)
b) Effective at the beginning of your next Billing Cycle

I know it's not a huge hassle for customers to do on their own currently, but the convenience and piece of mind this offers to customers who no longer have to worry about pro-ration is quite a big plus. Plus, it'll help get rid of many proration-related posts on the Community.

I know for a fact Fido offers it, so it might be worth looking into it.

Thanks,

Definitely. This will reduce all the confusion about proration and the complaints. A great idea!

Doesn't Koodo already offer this through Self Serve and through their Customer Care reps?

Really? If that's the case, I am a bit shocked why so many people have the proration problem then. :O

I don't think they already offer this. I switched my plan before and it happened instantly and I had a prorated rate.

I definitely agree that would be an amazing feature for Koodo to implement.

I don't understand what the big deal with proration is. Not like you are getting charged more, just because switch in mid month. you bill might look cleaner but the end result is the same.

Convenience, sir. That is all. Just another thing that makes things a little more care-free.

The big deal is that lots of people start panicing and complaining why they are being charged more, why they have less minutes/data than what they signed up for, all this commotion because they do not know about proration. Also what Mo said, it's convenient. You don't have to worry, "Oh wait. I have 50 less minutes this month..." or "Damn. I only have 50mb of data this month" and etc.

So, umm.. MykeC, you removed your response: is this a thing or not with Koodo? Did it used to be a thing?

And if not, is it something we're considering?

Hey Mo;

My post was an accidental post. That being said, when a rate plan change is done through Self Serve, it should show you what the prorated charge will be. The screen that this appears on is the one where it shows you what services you will lose and what you will gain. You should also have an option to allow the change to affect right away(which is the default option) or select the start of the new billing cycle :).

hmm.. I gave it a try last night, but didn't see it. Maybe I missed it. Will take a look again once the system is back up

.. Yeah, I don't see the option anywhere... I am afraid to click confirm and risk accidental proration

Same here. I saw and still don't see any option that allows you to change your plan automatically on a certain date/right after your billing cycle.

If you want a rate plan to change on a specific day..make the change on that day? This is kind of nitpicking.

Sure but wouldn't it be nice to just plug in a date and not have to worry about it?

I didn't see the option when I went to the Change Plan screens. A few others mentioned they haven't either.

So, Koodo Officials,

1) Does this thing exist? Or should I just wait for the right time and change then (and hope I don't forget or miscalculate the date wrong)

and

2) If it doesn't exist, is it something we would consider? :D

I think it's a good idea, at the very least it makes switching plans easier for customers. I've passed the idea along to our team that manages Self Serve, if it is an idea that they implement it will take some time. A workaround is switching your plan at the beginning of your next billing cycle, you just need to know when that is but it's pretty easy to find by checking your invoice.
