Hi Tammie, if you're in urgent need of a phone, I would suggest getting a prepaid phone for now until you can get all of your identification (hard copies) together which could take some time. I'm not certain if photocopied ID is considered acceptable. If it is, you should also bring a police report along with your photocopied ID. Any form of identity theft should be reported to authorities immediately, if you haven't already done so.

Hi Tammie,

If you already had an account with Koodo and really need the phone, you could also get an unlocked phone, and buy a new SIM card and transfer your account to the new SIM card through self serve. You can get a cheap entry unlocked phone for about 150$ from major retailers and use that. It will save you from having to pay your current plan as well as a new prepaid plan that you might not use for the entire month while you wait for your new ID cards to arrive in the mail.

One thing that you may be able to do is to call into customer service and set up an account. The credit check for a post paid account requires 3 pieces of ID - date of birth, SIN, drivers license, or credit card.

If you go into a store, I do not believe that they will be able to take photo copies plus they require that you have a piece of mail that shows proof of your current address.

Give customer service a call (1-866-995-6636) and they will be able to tell you more, as well as get you to the activations department to set up your account.

IMPORTANT: If you find that someone has used your ID to set up an account the same way, you can also have that marked a fraudulent account - as long as you have the police report.
