Well from day one, all warranties/repairs are done through Apple. You have to make an appointment at an Apple store through the Genius Bar to get any servicing done. They run a diagnostic and see what the issue is, if any. I've heard of this issue before; I poked around the Apple forums once or twice and saw people posting the same thing.

If it's under 1 year old then it should be covered and they'll usually just take the old phone to refurbish it and give you a new one.

Same problem has been reported on apple discussion by an iphone user, they suggested a fix for it.

If the volume slider is not showing up in your music app and things like that when you're having this issue, it's because your phone thinks it's docked on speakers. This can be caused by corrosion to the contacts, and if that is the case the phone is usually liquid damaged and then not covered under warranty.

Making sure cables/docks you are plugging in to are clean can help avoid this issue as well.
