My phone keeps cycling between "no service" "telus" "koodo" "no service" "telus" "koodo" all in about 2 seconds. I cant make calls or anything. Its a Samsung Galaxy Ace II X. Whats going on? Is it a sin card issue? I have tried reseting, reinstalling sin card ect ect.

Hi Thomas,

It certainly doesn't sound too healthy... When did it start happening, did it work before?
Try one last thing before you replace the SIM card: manually pick Koodo as your network provider. Does that stabilize things?

I bought the phone second hand and cant contact the owner. Lol big surprise. the phone looks physically flawless. But I dont know if it worked before. Also when Im going through the menu i go and find the koodo provider and it says "unable to connect. Try later" I also have tried setting network mode set to WCDMA instead of automatic. I know the phone started on virgin, was unlocked and It appears to accept the koodo card briefly...is there some sort of programming I need to do maybe?

Turn off phone, remove battery, remove SIM card and wait 5 minutes. Re-install SIM card, battery and power the Ace 2x on. If you're still experiencing the same problems, you may need a new SIM card.

Ok well thank you guys for the advice. I tried the sin card in my friends phone (its the same phone but white) and well it works. So it must be some thing to do with my phone... Ill let it sit over night without battery and sin and see how it goes. Ill keep you all posted.

After some messing around I found that the phone will send and receive messages but as soon as I try to call or use data it goes to no service.
Also when I try to call it says "out of service area"

Make sure 2G networks is NOT enabled. Go to Settings > More... > Mobile networks, 'Use only 2G networks', (if checked, uncheck). To factory reset the Ace 2x, see link below.

This option is used mainly when people run into problems when accessing data and probably won't solve the issue, but it doesn't hurt to check that everything is in order.

Go to Settings > More settings > Mobile networks > Access point names - make sure that only Koodo SP (sp.koodo.com) shows. Delete any other APN's like Telus or Virgin if visible. To delete an APN, first highlight the APN, then tap the menu soft-key to the left of the Home button and select Delete APN.

Verify that the Koodo APN information here is the same on your Ace 2x.

APN: sp.koodo.com

Go to Settings > More settings > Mobile networks > Network mode - change the mode back to GSM/WCDMA (Auto mode).

Go to Settings > More settings > Mobile networks > Network operators - choose Select automatically.

I've officially fixed my phone. It appears the phone had some history or background files from previous modding. Any ways, I used a program called odin and downloaded the original firmware for my phone through the following website

LONG STORY SHORT, avoid buying second hand phones if you can haha.

The factory reset option in the phones options was not enough. In my case I had to go farther.

The Galaxy Trend and the Ace 2x are identical devices spec-wise, but I would have gone with original stock firmware for the Ace 2x (GT-S7560M, Telus branded). The Galaxy Trend GT-S7560, is the European variant. The firmware may differ slightly and you may experience erratic operation as a result.

Get stock firmware here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/

Buying phones secondhand isn't all bad if you do it properly. Meet in a public place (I prefer Tim Hortons) at a decent hour and if at all possible... test out your SIM card before you hand over your cash! That is the biggest complaint I see people have about buying secondhand (no service, not recognizing SIM, etc)
