Phone number change issue

I have a question about number changing. I changed my cell number a few hours ago and I am only able to text some people while others get an error message as they're trying to message me. Also when they try to call me, my phone doesn't ring and it goes to some automatic voice system saying leave a message. How do I fix it?

Hi there Gabrielle... Is it a brand new number you chose, or you decided to bring a number from a different carrier? If you are bringing your number from a different carrier, you may be experiencing the MIX SERVICE, and this should end when your number is completely transferred to Koodo, no worries, this should not take long time and you will receive a text when your PORT request is completed...!

Did you try already to turn off your phone, remove battery (if it has removable battery) and Sim Card, and turn it on again to see if it works?

I think it's a new number, it did say it was available. I was with Koodo before I changed the number so it's not from another carrier. I've changed my number before and this is the first time I've had issues with it.

I have turned my phone off several times to see it if does a difference and no luck. I have an iPhone so I don't think i can remove the battery myself.

did you call in to change the number or did you do it through self serve?
if the latter, did you choose a number from the list of available numbers it generated, or did you type a number into the box under option 2?

try turning off imessage, restarting the phone, then turning imessage back on. that may help the texting issue.
