Sounds like a warranty issue. Which phone is it?

If you have a case on your phone, take the case off and try again. Also keep your hand away from the top of your phone. There is a sensor there that turns the screen off during calls to prevent your face from tapping buttons.

Look in your settings to see if you can turn off the proximity sensor. Some cheaper cases will also be too close to this sensor.

Would I be correct in guessing you have a nexus phone with a screen protector? Peel the screen protector away from the proximity sensor (top left corner of the phone, the little dot right next to the speaker for the earpiece) and see if that resolves the issue.

Try taking the battery out or a soft reset if its an Iphone.
Lock button and home button together until the apple pops up.

Sorry K oodo. Nexus warranties not worth the paper they are written on.

If it doesn't cover under warranty and they ask you to pay $150 for repair, I would search for local repair shops. (You should compare price, diagnose fee/free estimate, rating...etc.) You might get it done cheaper.

just came back form a koodo third party repair shop.. they say i have a swollen battery and want over 150.00 to get it fixed.. They wont repair it because a swollen battery is out of warranty. Am I supposed to believe this or did i just fall off the turnip truck

Belive it or not swollen batteries do happen and they are a sign of bad things to come. STOP CHARGING YOUR PHONE immediately, This battery could explode or catch fire or both. replacement batteries can be found cheaply on ebay

I examined the returned phone from the warranty repair, and there are multiple hairline cracks on the back of the case. Before I had full functionality cept when i made a call, now it won't even open when I swipe to unlock. They took a 300 dollar phone and trashed it, They gave it back to me in worse condition than when I first shipped it and now they refuse to replace it.. but the bills keep rolling in even though I had not used it in over a month.

brought the nexus 4 to a reputable shop, They replaced the screen and the sensor module, threw in beautiful rubber case back protector and installed a plastic screen cover. The gave it back to me fully functional and they replaced the battery as well. It works better than ever and it only cost me 170,00 tax included. They said the screen sensor failed and the last person who opened it cracked the case so they were forced to replace the screen. The last people who I sent the phone in for the original problem were the warranty experts that Koodo contracts out to . Their callous disregard for my property not only cost me a lot of money but all my data was wiped off the phone as well, Everything.. I lost everything. Should I send them a demand letter from my lawyer for payment or should I just look for another carrier and forget how I was passed over like yesterdays garbage

Koodo sends the devices to the manufacturer for repairs. Koodo is but a middle muchacho between you and a third party.

As for who cracked what, that's a he said she said thing so it all depends on who has a better story.

I'll wager your lawyer would agree with my statement here.

perhaps but the 2 salesmen at Koodo examined the phone before shipping it out and there was no damage whatsoever.. They are going to call their own employees liars now,, I don't think so. I have viable witnesses. If need be, My lawyer will take down their affidavits as proof that it was not damaged. all I wanted is an apology for putting me thru all this aggravation. If they can't or wont accept blame. then I will sue for damages and effect, its that simple
