Phone wont turn on due to water damage, can I get it replaced?

So I had to quickly save a family member who was about to drown in a pool, but I forgot to get my phone out of my pocket before making the save. I dried it and put it in rice but after a few days in there it won't turn on or even charge so I think it's officially dead. Is it possible that koodo will replace my phone?

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime.

Yes you can get your phone replaced but probably not for free. Usually water damage will void any warranty.

@Noel: When did you buy the phone? and do you have Koodo extended warranty on it?

As Mats suggested, manufacturer doesn't cover water damage.

@Dinh: It was given to me as a gift about 2 years ago, and I don't remember if I have extended warranty on it. Alright, so I won't have to buy a brand new phone?

eh, if someone bought it for you, then you properly didn't have the extended warranty on it.

Your phone was out of warranty with water damage, I don't think Koodo/Samsung will do anything for you. A new phone is likely the choice.

If you had the extended warranty then you may be able to make a claim if the warranty period hasn't expired. All of which you should have documentation for.
Otherwise, you'll have to get a new phone or get the current one fixed.

Yes you will have to buy a new phone. The phone was given to you so any warranty(if any) wouldnt apply to you. Plus the phone was put in water so...........
