Phone uses data when data is turned off

I have very little data for my phone so I only have enough for iMessages for the month. I have data for all of the individual apps turned off in the settings but I leave it on for system services so my iMessages work when I don't have wifi. My phone still uses data for other apps even though it's turned off and I keep having to pay extra every month because of this

Where are you seeing the persistent usage? In the Settings>Data Usage menu? Dumb question, but you're not looking at wi-fi data usage, right? Can you post a screenshot? In Settings>Data Usage​, if you press the menu button again, you'll see a checkbox for "Show Wi-Fi usage." Is that checked? Check this out for more info....

The link seems to be an advertisement for purchasing something about essay writing. Could you either remove the unwanted advertising or fix the link to point to something relevant?

i keep asking this question and no one from koodo has responded. I was recently in nova scotia and within two days my dad was consumed. Every month for over 6 i am over my data and i never use my phone unless i am in a wifi area. Gonna switch to Wind if this isn't rectified soon as they have unlimited data

As far as data use can you find how much data is being used by System Services? This is enabled when cellular is turned on. When I was using very little data (iMessage, email, calendar, and maps) the system services would sometimes use the majority of the data. I partially solved this by disabling 3G data so that my data leakage was very slow, but I could still get iMessages over 2G. Unfortunately, Koodo doesn't have 2G service so this approach won't work.

exactly so this is why i will probably be switching companies. my husband's bill is always $45 unlimited data
