Phone is in "vacation mode" while traveling in Europe. However I keep receiving messages. Will I be charged for these?

I don't know what you mean by vacation mode but if you are receiving text messages while in Europe, yes you will be charged. The most effective way to avoid roaming charges is to take the sim card out of your phone. At least put your phone on airplane mode.

"Vacation mode" is a plan offered by Koodo for $15 a month. The phone is in airplane mode. I just realized the message is an iMessage.

So you are receiving them when you connect to Wi-Fi. No charges.

Airplane mode with wifi on should be no problem in terms of $$$.

You could do like Ahmad suggested and pull the SIM... like wearing belt and suspenders just to be safe.
