Paying more with a large tab

Large tab problems. I was looking at getting the samsung s9+ on a large tab. However the large tab is $29 more monthly then the other tabs and also i would pay $21 monthly towards the phone, so really i would be paying $50 for the large tab monthly over 24 months plus $580 up front for the phone. The phone that to buy without a plan at $1180 ends up $1780. What a joke. All these numbers are before tax. Where is the savings or the incentive to take a large tab?

There is none. The only reason why some do it is for lower down payment right away on it. Other than that it isnt a good deal at all.

Also phones on tab large are the ones you'll often find with bigger discounts.

So for the same plan, you pay 29$ more?! What province are you in to see such a big difference?

I just made the math and it's not the same difference as you see.

I agree with Mat, there is no deal with Tab L

No one here recommend to take Tab L.  Even if you get good discount on upfront price, you will pay way more at the end with Tab L plan.

@ Robert
Take a look their plans, say Ontario.
With Tab M : $50 plan give you 1 GB + unlm minutes
With Tab L : $79 plan give you 1 GB + unlm minutes

The promotion +3GB (24month) is ongoing with plans of $50+ for Tab S&M. So the $50 is actually unlimited +4GB

The Tab L is predatory.  It takes advantage of those who cannot pay for any of the phone upfront.  The poor end up having to pay more over 2 years.

It's actually cheaper to buy on Amazon and finance on your credit card's usurous rates and then go for a rate plan that makes sense. Gives you an idea where the provider's heads are.

We had an incident in our family where a mentally-challenged 19-year-old without a job or credit card was able to sign up for 2 top-of-the-line iPhones (not Koodo but another big name). Parents are now iPhone users, but not voluntary converts.

Comparing 5GB plans:
Virgin Mobile & Fido:
BYOP = $70
Silver/Small = $80
Gold/Medium = $85
Platinum/Large = $100

Koodo:
BYOP = $70
Small = $70 + $10 = $80
Medium = $70 + $15 = $85
Large = $99 + $21 = $120

Unless I'm reading things wrong I'm not sure why Koodo would have their TL plan $20 more than the other guys.
Imo the plans should be the same price but just like how you need a plan $45 and up for tab medium, you need a plan $60 and up let's say for TL. No need for more expensive plans as well.
