Could Koodo allow us to unlock our phone and pay using the Tab?

It would be nice to be able to travel abroad and use our phone with a local SIM, but without having to pay $50 out-of-pocket to have the privilege to do so. Adding it to the Tab doesn't require an upfront cost to unlock, but will simply extend the time it takes to pay off the Tab.

I like the idea. But the the wireless code of conduct and the clearing of Tabs after 2 years might get in the way of that?

I'm not sure.

SCENARIO 1:
If you're a new customer and bought a phone with the Tab and used the entire Tab for the phone, there would be no room to tack on the $50 unlock fee to the Tab. This is a moot point because Koodo doesn't unlock a phone until after three months of service anyway.

SCENARIO 2:
If you're a customer that has paid down your Tab to a point where there is room to add the $50 unlock fee to your Tab, wouldn't adding to the Tab constitute a new Tab agreement and thus reset the 2-year guarantee? It is certainly not the original Tab agreement which was used to subsidize the original phone purchase.

However, that would effect their "2 year guarantee" thing & then what if you get another device & add an unlock to that as well. It can build up real quick.

I would support a lower rate to unlock. $50 is pretty high for a 5 minute or less process. Maybe something like $35 or something...
