Pay Per Use Data

I'm new to phones and I'm curious about the pay-per-use data that's included in all plans. Is it possible to tell Koodo to exclude all data usage from phone, or would there be an option in the iPhone/Android phones to permanently turn it off? I don't want to accidentally use the internet one day by accident and then be charged by it.

Both iphones and android devices have the option to disable data at the phone. Koodo can also block it at the network level, but since picture messaging requires data to work (even though koodo doesn't charge for it) this will effectively block picture messaging as well.

You could add the add-on data block to avoid accidental use of data. But be aware that you will be unable to send/receive mms after adding data block

I would recommend to just block data in your phones settings and that way you actually have control over it:)
