Hey All, I paid off of my tab a while back and I was told by a friend that I qualify for the bring your own phone discount now? Can anyone please clarify? Thanks.

You can switch to a no tab plan if you wish but there is no discount for bring your own device on top of the plan you currently have the tab pay off amount you pay each month is just not there anymore once you've paid the tab in full.
So if you paid $40 for your plan and $15 for your tab each month the tab will drop off so you'll pay $40 per month instead of $55 per month.

When you finish paying your tab then your monthly bill will be that tab amount less.
No discount per say, just you no longer have to pay your tab and can switch to a BYOD plan if there is one that better suits you.

That's not been the case for a few years now. Your friend is a bit out of date. Now you just go back to your regular account amount.

There is no such thing as a free phone.  You are paying for it via tab..

If you can find a better plan, you are free to switch to it via self serve.  I do not see any plan available on the Koodo website for $40 for 5gb.  What province are you looking in?

6gn for 48 is pretty much as good as it gets. Afaik the 5gb for 40 plan is for people from Public switching over to Koodo as per the offer.

You're gonna pay for a phone no matter what. You pay more upfront or you pay more monthly. And usually you end up spending less if you pay more upfront. Especially with Koodo as the tab large forces you onto much worse plans compared to tab medium and no tab plans all for only 140 less upfront.

Okay so I will just stick with the plan I have I suppose since I do get that extra 1gb. Can I ask another question quickly which is not on this topic? ;/  My friend used my referral yesterday to sign up for that $40 plan (he was with Public) -- I did not receive any email from Koodo yet about crediting $50 to my account. Does it take time? Thanks kindly.

It takes 4-8 weeks to get the credit

Yeah keep the plan you have if you use the 6gb ever because if you go over 5gb then you'll be paying more than $8 for the extra GB of data for sure

Thank you so much. I have to say, I am so happy that I have this Koodo Community to help me with all my stupid questions regarding my phone & Plan. I am not very good at it, so I appreciate all the help I can get. Take care.
