I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Next week I will be traveling to Los Angeles, California. Can I use my Koodo phone there?

Yes but there will be charges such as $1.50/minute for calls and $0.60/text for sending and receiving. Take a look at the roaming plans Koodo offers to see if any of those meet your needs.

Thank you, Tyler! I don't need much phone time, but I think the $15/40min add-on will be plenty for me! Excellent advice, much appreciated.

Keep in mind if you have a smart phone you should turn off your data to ensure you don't get expensive data roaming charges.

Thank you, that is good advice. I normally don't use my cell phone on trips, but this time we've booked a shuttle and need to call them after baggage claim so they will know when to pick us up. I don't plan to have the phone turned on for very long, but I will make sure to shut off data.

Yes,You will be able to use your phone in US.But Roaming charges will be applicable. You can avoid Roaming charge by using local sim.If you want to use local sim on your phone,Make sure your phone is unlocked. If it's locked by particular network carrier,You will need to unlock your phone. For unlocking you can approach your service provider or else try to buy an unlocking service from any one of the online unlocking service provider like http://www.mobile-unlocker.com/suppor... I hope it will be very useful to you.

Thank you all for your help. My trip was great, and the phone worked perfectly...although it took a little longer to connect with the network when I turned it on. I don't have a smart phone, so no roaming to worry about. I think I ended up using half the minutes I bought, but the price was not steep, so no worries.
