Me and my girls just got the i phone 4 last week we were told that the phone needs a case because it is all glass so okay then the employee showed us the 50 buck otter box so again we must pay for them so why not just give a otter box for each one purchased instead of having the potential of a broken phone and the company having to replace it in a couple months

Otter boxes are an accessory, not a requirement. I've used my phone without an otter box for years and it's been fine. If you feel that your phone needs an otter box, you can choose to buy one. It is in no way mandatory to have one.

Donna, no phone company will replace a phone if you physically damage it, Otterbox or not. There are cheaper alternatives to the Otterbox if you feel like buying a case too, not all cases cost $50! Shop around :)

Otterbox is a trusted brand with an excellent warranty, so they do very well for themselves. Take a look online to see if they're available cheaper or find a comparable case that does the same job - I recommend the Seidio Active cases. They don't interfere with the buttons as much as Otterboxes do and they come with a built-in kickstand!

I like the kickstand I got for my phone. It's a mini plunger :P
