Ordered phone online: when does billing start?

I just ordered a phone from Koodo online, and it arrived in the mail today. But the site said "expect 10 days to process the order". As a result, I've got almost 20 whole days of my contract with my previous company left. I'd like to avoid paying for 2 plans at once.

When does Koodo consider my account activated, and start charging me? When the phone was delivered, or when I first use the SIM? i.e. if I wait to put the SIM in the new phone, will Koodo consider the account "not started" yet?

I believe it starts once you either activate your sim card or activate your online self-serve account

You begin paying your account froth day the phone shipped. It would not work very well for Koodo to have folks who wait long periods (if ever) before inserting a Koodo SIM, so charges begin at time of shipping.

If you port your existing number immediately, you should receive a refund from your current supplier.
