Online order for new phone, can't transfer number

I'm trying to order a phone online and am not able to transfer my current number over (from telus). I'm getting the error: Your number (******) cannot be transferred. Please change your selection to get a new number.. However, in the support page it says that my number is able to be transferred.

To order my phone, do I just select the New Number option, and try to activate it with my old number when I receive the phone?

You can just assign yourself a new #. Once you receive the phone we can port in your TN #. Keep in mind your old service provider needs to stay active in order for koodo to take the #. Also make sure you have the name of your old cell phone provider along with the account # or pin that was affilliated with your old account. Generally the port in can take up to 3 hours.I hope this helps

I was having this exact problem with the support page saying I could, and then it didn't work at checkout (with a Telus phone too). Thanks for the info, does anyone know why this happens?
