On Wifi - will picture messages count against my data?

I figured out I have to turn data on to get picture messaging to work, but it still looks like I'm using data when I send a picture message when I'm connected to wifi.

Is my data supposed to be counted for picture messaging when connected to wifi or is something wrong?

It uses Mobile Data but if you have Picture Messaging as part of your Plan / Add-ons then you aren't be charged extra for the Data being used to send / receive Picture Messages.

You do have to watch apps running in the background as likely that's the culprit if you do see data charges on your bill that you don't recognize.

If you are connected to a strong wifi signal while you have Mobile Data on, your background apps would be using the wifi in the background (if they are updating, etc), while your picture messaging should safely go through you data connect without counting against you data bucket.

Thanks for much for your answer. It was just what I needed. If I don't turn on the Data then the pic text takes 2 weeks to get delivered. I turned on the Data, resent the pic over WiFi and it worked like a charm. Made sure to turn off Data afterwards. Many thanks.
