Old tab user here. Can I keep my old plan if I decided to upgrade my phone?

I currently am using a phone that I bought about 3 years ago and I am thinking of upgrading it. The plan I have right now is from the old tab system which has me pay $30 per month for 200mb of data and unlimited calling and texting. I am very satisfied with this plan and would like to keep it. Since my tab balance currently shows $0.00, does this mean that I should be able to buy a new phone from Koodo and continue paying $30 per month? For example, if I wanted to buy the LG G3, could I pay the retail price of $360 and use it with the same plan I had? Because of the change in the tab system, I am assuming that if I wanted to get the G3 for $0, I would have to get a new plan and pay $15 per month for 24 months as a Tab Charge, right? Does paying retail price for a phone allow me to keep my old plan?

Hi there...

You are free to keep your existing plan in both scenarios, whether you use the new TAB or pay the phone up front, you decide if you keep it or you change it for one of the new plans...

If you use the TAB remember that this will be divided by 24 months and that's the amount you will have to add on top of your plan...

Enjoy!

You only have it half right. If you move to the new tab you will have to change plans.

If you move to the new tab you can still keep your old plan. You only have to pay the tab charge.

Sukmin. You are correct in everything you said. You understand the system perfectly.

This is taken directly from Koodo's website FAQS

"You can continue to keep your current Tab and plan until you’re ready to upgrade your phone. When upgrading, you can choose to switch to one of our new plans or keep your existing plan if you prefer." You can find this info here: http://help.koodomobile.com/getting-s...

Hope it helps! ;)

You can keep your old plan if you pay outright for your next phone. For example if you pay the full price for the LG G3 you are good to continue with your $30 plan. But I think you can only buy the phone outright from koodo stores. I don't think any other place would sell it to you outright.

Hi Sukmin, just to clarify, you can keep your old plan and take a new Tab unless you take a Tab Plus which requires a Tab Plus Plan. :)

I hope this is not true as I would rather walk away from koodo to take advantage of a new customer bonus offered by another provider.
