Hi Everyone,

I purchased a Nexus 4 before the tab changed approximately two years ago. I have a very cheap plan that I would love to keep; however, my nexus 4 has just recently died. My plan was to use the ~$96 I have paid off my 150 tab to purchase another phone outright and keep the plan I have. The problem is I am being asked to pay the remaining $54 I owe before I can purchase a new phone and I am being required to pick a new plan when I purchase the new phone. Because I am under the old tab my balance does not reset to zero after two years. Is my understanding of how the tab works incorrect? What are my options to keep the plan I have and purchase a new phone?

Thanks!

If you want to upgrade your phone outright, you don't have to pay off your tab. You can keep your plan and your contribution stay same as 10% to pay down your Tab.

If you want to upgrade your phone with a Tab, you have to pay off your remaining Tab first ( $54 in your case) and you can start a fresh Tab. If your plan is under $30 and want to keep it, you can only use Tab S.

Thank you for the reply! So if I pay off the current balance I could open a new tab with a Tab M since I have a plan that is 39 dollars a month?

Oh, I thought you have a $15 or $20 plan since you mentioned "I have a very cheap plan" :)
Yes, once you paid off your balance, you can keep your plan and use Tab M.
(Your tab will be set to -$300) Mind you, there will be $5/mo tab fee on Tab M.

Also, they are talking about changing of tab system, so I would move quickly.
