Which phone is it?

Could just be a delay in texts being sent, it happens sometimes. Try removing your SIM card and battery (if possible) and try texting yourself from another phone to see if it works.

What kind of phone do you have?

What you could try to do is leave the phone on, take the battery and sim card out of the phone for about a minute. Put it all back together and power up the phone. try to send a text to yourself or have someone close to you send you one.

Most likely a network issue especially if still happening after a reset, it will fix itself with in a matter of time.

If it's the Samsung Galaxy Ace, go to settings and turn off packet data. You'll be able to send messages that way. Turn on packet data for picture messages but you'll have to turn it off again to send/receive normal messages.

If it's another device, try a battery pull.
