Not eligible for Tab Large deal, but...

Hi, I'm planning to buy a new phone shortly, the LG G6, and currently there is a deal with Tab Large that is 50$ off in comparison to the Medium and Small plans. However, trying to get it to apply I'm met with "You're not eligible for Tab Large because of your most recent credit check".

This is understandable, as last year I had critical financial issues that prevented me from paying my bill on time, and it has clearly affected my credit. I've since resolved that situation, although obviously that won't reflect in my credit. My plan to begin with was to immediately pay off around 200$ of the Tab regardless; I just want to take advantage of the current sale, and Tab Large's monthly plan is also slightly cheaper for the same thing.

It's also a bit silly as to why my credit would make me unable to apply for Tab Large, when the total phone price is less than on Medium and the same plan is cheaper, which one would assume would make Medium more difficult to pay off.

Is there a way I can manually get around this?

hi Keith,
If you look around in the forum, The Tab Large was never a good deal (unless you were in QC or SK).

I don't think there is a way around  in selfserve online. You might get through if you call in or do it in a Koodo kiosk, but it is not guaranteed.

The LG G6 was on sale for $0 on Medium Tab several times in the past. I would suggest you wait for a promotion if you still would like to to buy it.

How is the tab large monthly plan cheaper?

What plan do you have now?

Besides, you won't be able to pay off your tab for 90 days anyways

The phone is on sale for $504 with Large rather than $560 on Medium. The monthly plan on Large is $44/mo, whereas on Medium the same plan is $48/mo (which I am currently using). After 24 months that's $1560 versus $1712.
I wasn't aware of the 90 day hold, and if you can only pay off the whole thing rather than pay it off in portions as you could previously that also stinks, but the total remains the same.
I'm aware that typically Medium is the better option but Large seems to be better here, no? If the G6 on Medium goes on sale often then that would be best, but my phone is out of commission and I'm currently using a backup.

In that case you are in MB/SK and it's absolutely worth it to get a tab large plan then. You save on your phone and your plan.

As for the tab you cannot pay off portions of it beyond the mo they payment. You pay it all on your next bill or run out the 24 months. May as well as there's no interest.

Yeah, I'm MB. Paying the phone off would be more to ensure lower monthly payments later rather than thinking it's somehow less expensive.
The main issue still remains that I don't know how I could get around the automatic rejection due to credit (despite it being the cheaper option).

The quickest way to confirm if it is truly a credit issues would be to head to a koodo kiosk and see what the rep says

Do the math on a tab large plan and medium tab plan over 2 years. Tab large is way more expensive and not a good deal at all. Plus you either make your monthly tab payments or pay the whole tab off. There is no in-between. Go with medium.

As far as the page below only Quebec seems to offer better tab large options. Maybe MB/SK does as well but they are lumped in with everybody else on this page anyway.

It starts off at 14 dollars a month more expensive for 3gb at large than medium. Or 336 dollars more over 2 years to spend 50 dollars less up front.

The largest tab medium plan is 90 for 8gb at, or 11.25/gb. The closest tab large is 99 for 7gb (14 dollars per gb and 9 a month more than 90 for 8) and 114 for 10gb, which is about the same per gb for medium. Unless you're really going to need that many GB on a regular basis, you can see it isn't worth it at all.
