How do you change a device on prepaid. I was given a new phone (same type of sim card) and it is unlocked but when I put in the sim card it still says no service.

There shouldn't be any special steps, but make sure your new phone is enabled for Koodo's 3G network. (What model of phone is it? I could tell you how to check.)

Also, make sure the phone is compatible by clicking here.

I did check for compatible and it is.

It is a Nexus One

Phone says my phone number, but network unknown.

So it's an Android.

In settings there should be a wireless and networks section with an option that says More, More Settings or More Networks. Click there, then click on Mobile networks. There should be an options that says "Use Only 2G Networks" or "Network Mode."

If it's the first one, make sure it's off. If it's the second make sure you're not set to GSM or 2G only.

In that case I don't have much else to tell you. The SIM is working so it's not your account or Koodo's network.

Check it out at a Koodo store if you can. You can find your nearest store by clicking here.

Did you try power cycling? (turning the power off and on again)

There were two different versions of the nexus one, one is compatible with Koodo and one is not. What provider was the phone originally with? Unless it was Rogers or AT&T it likely does not have the correct frequencies.

I thought that too, but my Nexus One was the international "Yakju" model (US is "Takju") and it worked with both Rogers and Telus. Never tried it with Koodo, but that should work too.

What version does your N1 have, F L?
