I just got a koodo plan for my iphone 4 from best buy today. It was activated about 3.5 hours ago and its still reading "no service". How can i pick up the network?

Edit #2: i would just wait a little longer to see how it works or it could be your area that has very low cellular reception

Well i'm unable to manually shut off my iPhone (top button is broken) so the sales guy put the new SIM in and told me to let the phone die, then charge it and it would pick up the network when it turned back on.

all i can think of is a reboot (hold home and top button), try resetting your network settings it sometimes works.
also constant no service could be a damaged sim card. did it have service in the store after activation?

Never had service yet, but its a brand new sim, so it hopefully isn't damaged.

Wait! You bought your phone even though you saw the top button is broken?
I wouldn't take a phone in such a condition. If you still have problem tomorrow, you cam go back to the store and ask to exchange to a new one.

Definitely go back to Best Buy then. If they activated your phone and it says invalid sim there is an issue

Is your phone a Koodo/unlocked iPhone4?

My old provider claims to have unlocked it, but I don't know for certain.

Just went back to best buy and they said the same thing, that my old provider probably hasn't unlocked it yet (even though they said it would be fine after 1pm today) so i'm just waiting till tomorrow at this point

Have you connected to iTunes on your computer to sync the unlock?
