Try taking out the SIM card, turning off the phone, and then putting it back in to refresh the network.
Also some devices have better reception than others (notably Blackberries).
If the area is covered by Koodo's reception area than it could be some other kind of interference like trees, valleys, mountains, highways, etc. Koodo also can't guarantee indoor service (nor can any carrier) because certain buildings and their related construction materials can mess up the signal as well.
I would call Koodo and have them check out the coverage area. If it's covered and you still get poor reception, have them log a network ticket and they'll investigate further.
