No Network Service

I recently switched to Koodo. I unlocked my phone, service worked great for one day, then I lost service. I no longer can send or receive data or even make a phone call. The only time I can use the internet occurs when I am connected to wifi...but still no phone or texting ability. I have tried the battery, factory settings, and even replaced my sim card. The phone identifies itself on koodo...but not really. Why do I not have network services anymore? My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3.

Try

Settings...wireless and networks...more...mobile networks

Make sure you're not in "2G only" or "Gsm only" mode
Network selection should be on automatic

Please also check your imei to make sure your previous carrier didn't mark the phone lost or stolen here: http://www.protectyourdata.ca/check-t...

I have verified each of your suggestions and it still doesn't help.
I am registered on the Koodo network but I have no service.
Thanks anyways.

That's really strange, did you recently update your S3 to kitkat? There's a known bug in the S3 update that prevents the device from making calls (calls are rejected with "call ended 0:00" message). Samsung is working on a fix last I heard.

What's the model number of your S3? Who was your previous carrier?

Check also your Access Point Name (APN) Settings and make sure koodo.sp is selected. This is unrelated to your phone or text issue but it may get your data working.

You should certainly call for tech support, after that...

The next step might be to attempt a downgrade back to jelly bean

There was not recent update. I switched from WIND to Koodo. It worked fine with no issues on WIND. It has only started when the switch took place last weekend. The model number is: SGH-T999V

The APN settings is koodo.sp

I have called tech support and they told me it was the hardware. But how can it be when all I did was unlock the phone from WIND and transfer to Koodo?

How do you downgrade back to jelly bean?

Could be a coincidence. the t999v appears to have the right frequency band for 3g service at least.

Goto settings, about and tell me what version of android you're running.

Do you have another phone you could try this sim card in to rule out the sim card?

I am using Android version 4.3

I have also replaced my sim card and nothing changed.

Thanks for you advice so far.

My previous service carrier was WIND. I had no issues up until I switched.

Does your wind service still show up if you out your wind sim back in?

Are you sure it was unlocked? How was the unlocking process?

The phone is unlocked. How can I downgrade?

The phone shows no bars or 4 bars at any time but not 3G. In either case it is a nice paper weight now because no data is ever sent or received.

Hey Sarah,

Please note that some Wind phones may not be fully compatible with Koodo (http://koo.do/1lkHsW7). Even though the Samsung Galaxy S3 available on Wind's website, seems to be compatible with our frequency bands :-/

Your best bet is to visit your local Koodo Store in Peterborough (click here: http://koo.do/locator123), and Rep will test it with a demo SIM Card.

Hope this helps!

If you see a good answer, give it a star.
I know this was 11 months ago, but I'm having the same problem with my unlocked phone I just moved to Koodo, but i had a Rogers phone, unlocked then used with bell for awhile now Koodo is saying no service, did you ever get a solution?

If you bought your unlock from some ¿?internet?¿ providers, and then did a major system update, your original unlock may get tossed out in the shuffle.

Koodo and Bell use equivalent infrastructures, so it's not a phone hardware issue. if you have convenient access to a boutique, they can probably sort this out fast by popping in a test SIM.
