Hey Guys,
I bought a prepaid card today and activated it online. Now my phone (a very old one from germany) doesn't find a network. I tried to switch it off/on and took out the sim. Calls doesn't work (incoming as well) and text messages also don't work. Hope you can help me, I also searched a little in the community but everyone with the same problem has a smartphone :D I was at Fido before and everything worked without any problem.

Hi Timo,

Your German phone doesn't have the right frequencies for Koodo (or Bell/Telus) because they only offer the newer 3G bands. Especially older European phones don't support these at all, they only work on GSM.

The reason it worked on Fido is because they use the Rogers network, who does have the GSM/2G/Edge bands :( I'm afraid your only option is to purchase a newer phone, or one that was meant for use in Canada.

Welcome to Koodo btw and I'm sure you won't regret upgrading your phone :)

Okay thanks for the answer ;) Seems like I have to spend a little more than I thought but the Koodo prepaid plans look way better than the Fido ones so it's worth it I hope.

If you're not interested in a smartphone, you'll be able to find one for $30 or $40 Timo. I'm on prepaid too and I really love it!
