Extremely frustrating: I'm in Mexico and possibly expecting an emergency phone call, only to find upon arrival my phone will not work. I would have been fine paying the roaming charge but apparently Koodo takes it upon themselves to not allow your phone to work at all while you're out of the country, in case you don't want to pay for it. I've spent the first 24 hours of my vacation on the Koodo site and app trying to remedy it, reading posts from others who have had similar problems. The $0 package is not listed on the website. When I try to add it on via the app on my phone I get the error message "No financial data available." I'm a monthly customer, not pre-paid. Can anyone help?????!!!!

Since you don't see the $0 add-on to enable roaming, easiest solution (hate to suggest this) is to call in to 866-99-KOODO. If you get a good wifi signal, grab an app like Freetone or MagicApp and call Koodo over wifi to have it enabled, then reboot your phone after the call.

Can't you do it via FB messenger as well? Contact Koodo @www.m.me/Koodo

Hope it will help you.

Elizabeth, can you pls turn your iPhone to airplane mode. Wait a few seconds and turn it back. If all goes well that should reset your phone.

I too am in Mexico, first time since I switched from telus. I get a list of mexican networks but all say "forbidden" It is extremely frustrating. I have a mexican phone but need to get some texts. I have an asus and it's new so adding to the frustration.

Have you added via self-serve the international voice roaming add-on? It's a zero dollar one that allows you to roam. Then restart your phone. Also you can use text now o mm your Mexican number to receive texts. It's a VoIP app that has free texting so you'll have a Canadian number peoOle back here without international texting can send to without getting charged. It's a good alternative if you end up not being able to connect roaming

Just a heads up Van, you do not have any roaming add-ons added to your account either. If Goran's suggestion work you will be paying on a pay-per use basis.

Hi Bernard,
I received an email saying I added international roaming, which I didn't. I haven't received a new bill yet so I can't confirm this and have no idea if I will be charged for this. My phone still says I have no network. I went and got a mexico phone so I don't need my koodo at all now.

Hello Van,

If you think there's a mistake on your next bill, give Koodo a call and explain them the situation.

Vanda, you received that email over 2 weeks ago. The same time you received an email to confirm you made a payment. The international roaming feature that was added was the free one that all customers need to enable calls when they travel overseas. It's absolutely free. You maybe thinking of an roaming add-on that gives you discounts while travelling. That has not been added to your account. Long story short, everything looks fine.

Thanks so much for your help, everyone.  I ended up putting in a Customer Service request to Koodo (for a $10 service fee--!!!!!) and it's working now.  Although I see it's only going to allow me to roam on a pay-per-use basis for 30 days.  This is a very annoying setup, as I want to be able to just USE my phone wherever I am (which is pretty reasonable I think!) and I've always paid my phone bill well before the due date and in full so I think Koodo ought to allow me to do that!  I'll be switching back to Bell when I get home.  Thank you everyone.

Not sure how you put the customer service request in Elizabeth but after we spoke here and suggested airplane mode above all seems to work fine. You have not been charge ten dollars. We do not stop you using your phone. Looking at your account you still haven selected an add-on so bear in mind you are paying for every text you send, although incoming texts are free. It isn't for 30 days it's as long as you are staying in Mexico.

you can just use your phone anywhere you want. Koodo isn't preventing you. The only add-on option is 40 dollars for not a lot sure. You'll just have to pay a pretty penny for it. Bell isn't a whole lot different it's just less obscene for roaming at 10 dollars a day to just "use" your phone. Well and a 100mb per day data limit. If you want to use your phone as you desire without spending a lot of money, then by far your best option is to get a local prepaid plan.
