Fido offers 2gb for 35$, koodo does, but with a renewal... I am with koodo but without contract. I asked them for the 2gb, they literally told me that they prefer I go with fido than to bother sticking with them...

wtf is that company, they give 0 f**ks about you. Just leave, soon we'll do something better than the competition when we notice a drop in clients, then you'll come back crawling... Well guess what, I won't! It can go both ways you idiots.

This is stupid.

I agree the conditions on the promos make it difficult for exisiting customers.
Do your research and make the decision that works best for you

It's not the promo that makes it hard for customers, it's the directive they have to not give value to the customers, assuming they will be back at the next sale. Guess they will not see me again though!

Sorry to hear that's what you're told but the plan is the same so I'd say no loss if you were to port over.

I didn't lose anything, but they lost 4 lines. I moved my gf and 2 kids at the same time. Which is why I find koodo very stupid for allowing that.

Well dont lose any sleep over it, however stupid it is. I wouldn't even be putting in the effort that you are posting here just to say "don't be with Koodo because they're stupid" but that's me.

Plus with Fido you get Spotify and 5 hours of unlimited data per month. With Koodo you get Shock Free Data... If I wouldn't have a grandfathered plan I'd be with Fido atm.

Try calling again and you might get a rep who is having a better day.

@Jean:

Well, I hope you didn't use that language when talking to Koodo agents. That tone doesn't help.

I checked Fido plans. Guess what, this is what they posted on the $35 "For a limited time only, get DOUBLE your data. That's a total of 2 GB! Available for new activations or phone upgrades only. Just in time for Moving Day!".   --> their current customers might not be eligible also. https://www.fido.ca/nac/#/choose-plan

If you are somewhat familiar with the retention concept. You would see that giving the customer bangs for his bucks and value your customers, they tend to recommend the services to others and stick with you.

That was not not the case and she was more rude than me actually. I made it clear that I would switch and she did not care. 10 minutes later, I was setup with fido and I will make sure to never come back and to make very bad publicity for them...

ok, so you already moved, and the intention was to make a bad public image here?

Retention offer was often hit and miss. If you didn't have the offer this time then you might want to try another. Anyway, as you already moved, then good luck with Fido.

I moved because there was no way they would even let me think that they value my business. So, yeah, this is shaming post for a crappy company.

I called in and they gave me the plan no questions asked. I guess it all depends on attitude and the CSR you spoke to.

Good for you. I switched to fido, now I also have 5 hours a month of unlimited download on top of the 2gb

If Walmart now has a better price than Canadian Tire on something, you just drive to the appropriate parking lot and don't waste time on an on-line diatribe.

As Tony Soprano would have said, business is business, there's nothing personal involved.

Most stores nowadays have price matching. It is there to help them keep their customers and maximize profits.
Like you said, business is business, koodo preferred 0$ a month instead of 35$ a month per line and 1st consideration for new phones... That's why I find it stupid.

This isnt a matter of price match. Both Koodo and Fido have the deal for new and renewing customers. Koodo has the deal, you just aren't eligible for it. If you leave Koodo and then create a new account with them, you would be eligible for the plan (however stupid that may sound)

Exactly, I could have ended my account and opened a new one and get the rebate. But I would have lost my number in the process...

Buy a Koodo prepaid Sim and port your current number to it. Then sign up again and get postpaid deal you want. Then port your number back in. I know you shouldn't have to do this but it would let you keep your number. Cost $20(prepaid Sim) and your time.

Sometimes you call the store and they give you the same price +10% off. Imagine if that would apply to carriers :O

Yeah, but I'm burned out and I'm already taking my business elsewhere. No time to waste with those fuckers
If you want to keep giving your money to Koodo, here is how you get that bonus data as an existing customer:
Order a phone through their website with the bonus data.
Then you have two options:
  • Refuse the delivery of the phone. Email Koodo to reverse the Tab. Your bonus data will stay.
  • Accept the delivery. Contact Koodo through email to send you a return label for you to ship the phone back. Return the phone. Sell that free SIM Card you received for $10+.
Probably would take you less time than waiting on hold to speak to a rep. You even get paid for doing the second option.

I will not go around their stupid customer service and try to get them. If they value your business, then they try to make you stay. They didn't care... Now I won't bother.
