My Nexus 5 just recently lost service. Yesterday it worked fine, and I usually have full signal. But today I have no signal at all. I can receive WI-FI though. I've tried rebooting, AirPlane mode Off/On, Settings>Network,Mobile networks, and tried to connect to Koodo but it says "Cannot connect to network." I can see my IMEI but my APN list is gone. What could be a the problem? Please Help.

Be sure your network settings aren't set to:

"Use 2g only" or "use gsm only"

This is not an instant community. The majority of us have other things to do as well such as work and family. If you want instant help, call Koodo at 1-866-995-6636 option 6 for technical support.

I don't know if this is the same issue your having but I kept losing connection on my Nexus 5 & couldn't figure out what the issue was as well. I went out and bought a new SIM Card and haven't had the issue since. Something to try perhaps.

Thanks, Paul. It's not really that I'm losing connection as there's no connection whatsoever, wherever I go. I spoke to Koodo support and they had me jump through the hoops of checking my settings, to no avail. Not that I'd changed them anyway.

Their tech support is supposed to be calling me back although that's impossible as my phone doesn't work so I guess I'll have to keep calling them and see. A new SIM is a distinct possibility to rule it out.

My issue is now fixed. Turns out my SIM card was totally dead. It wouldn't work in another Koodo phone so I was issued a new one, free of charge. All works perfectly again.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

I am still having issues. I have four nexus 5. All bought at the same time frame.

Last weekend my wife's phone's radio just randomly died. it had "No Service".
We swapped simcards, still didn't work. SIM card was fine.
The simcard from the dead phone, worked on another phone.

I factory resetted the phone. Rooted the phone, to reload the Modem image, nothing happened.
But I then went and sold my phone of on Kijiji and bought a new one.

This Week again, my phone died (2nd phone). Same thing. No cell network, No Service.
You cant connect to the Koodo Network even if you find it on the network list manually.

Koodo said it is an hardware issue with the Nexus 5.

Now I am just waiting for my other 2 phones to die. All the phones were bought on December 16th.

It's possible that the phone you bought on Kijiji was blacklisted. There's a delay between when it's reported lost/stolen and when the switch occurs.

Oh. So when someone buys a phone on contract and then sells the phone tonmake quick buck from you and then tells the carrier that he lost his phone. you don't know until you get scammed. What a crap system Canada has gotten into. Forci ng people to buy phones $150 from koodo/telus. more than what you can buy from Google.

Lobbyists are destroying the nation in the name of profit.

BTW, I checked. The on the international database. The phone wasn't declared stolen, but on koodo's database it was. They told me that the cell was from Virgin originally who locked the phone.
But Virgin said that phone is not on their blacklist database.

WOW.
3 hours of my life wasted on phone with tech service, who can't get my phone to work which I bought legitimately. I don't know where the original person bought it from. In fact, the phone was in box, and unopened, all tapes intact.

Now I am just forced to go to koodo and get a cell. Everyone tries to hurt the ordinary human being, but the people who steals ( the thief, and the thief with a cop's mask) keeps raking in the money.

That's really unfortunate, man. I'm sorry to hear that. The good news is we've figured out the issue and now you can get a new device from Koodo or... Buy it from Google? There's nothing stopping you from doing that.

Who said I bought 4 phones from the same person :S? I have four family members, my wife, myself, my dad and mom.
One is from Koodo. I could scan the reciept from Futureshop.. When you put the IMEI Number, Koodo's website says that the phone is not compatible, eventhough it is not reported lost or stolen.. IT IS KOODO's phone. I am hiding my IMEI number , because I feel unsave.

If you have a nexus 5, why dont you enter your IMEI number here and check yourself. It will say Incompatible. D820 NEXUS 5 WAS MADE FOR NORTH AMERICA. D821 is for rest of the world.

You realize the IMEI checker on the Koodo website is to see if the phone is COMPATIBLE with the network, not if the phone has been blacklisted. Clearly it's not working properly, BUT ITS NOT TO CHECK IF THE PHONE IS BLACKLISTED.

If your phone was blocked by Virgin, that means Virgin reported it stolen and registered it on the blacklist. If Koodo is telling you it can't do anythng, IT CANT. The system is rejecting the IMEI. What kind of answer do you want here? You unfortunately bought a stolen phone and this is what happens.

Either buy another phone from a 3rd party AND RISK THE SAME THING or buy a new phone from ANY COMPANY and unlock it. Stop saying Koodo is forcing you to buy a phone. This situation is not Koodo's fault.

Koodo's IMEI checker is broken: http://community.koodomobile.com/kood...

I'm sure that they're working on it. Sorry about your situation.

Brother Ahmad do you get paid by koodo? Your profile says you dont, but you must have an interest in Koodo.
Koodo's IMEI checker compatibility checker is BROKEN, it's says that it's been own nexus 5 they are selling is incompatible. I don't know how i can make it more clear to you.

Also Koodo is a part of CWTA. They have to have the IMEI checker to allow customers to check for lost and stolen phone status. That is why when u put your IMEI in the box, it says "Your phone has/hasn't been reported lost or stolen."

If it didn't do the check, why would it say that?

Ahmad brother, for God's sake please read comments properly before commenting.

Im just saying that Koodo's Imei checker is broken and they are blocking phones that are not reported as lost or stolen in the CWTA database. There is something wrong with Koodo's IMEI filter. I have had my phone for 3months. It takes 48hrs to update the database, not 3 months.

True, but it can take several months for an account to be shut down as fraudulent. The way it works is as follows: person signs up for koodo service using a stolen identity, using the tab to get a free phone. Person never actually uses the phone, choosing instead to sell it to you and keep the money. Since the bill never gets paid, koodo starts trying to contact the person whose name is on the account and finds out that it is fraudulent. The phone that was used on the account is then flagged in the blacklist database for subscription fraud. Yes the compatibility checker is inaccurate, but Koodo is not simply flagging random phones so you can't use them.

Then that IMEI blacklist is useless. It was made to be a tool to protect consumers from having their phone stolen, because the thief would know that the phone would be useless.

But in reality, the stolen phone gets sold to someone who checks the database, and at that moment of time, the database says "your phone is not stolen"... The buyer uses the phone in good faith for 3 months and THEN the phone gets blacklisted.

Hence, no one will ever re-use phones by buying it second hand, more phones end up in the landfill, more people left with no other option, other than to buy phones from carriers, and carriers make more money.

The lost phone was never to be found, data in the Lost phone Never to be deleted, thieves ALWAYS rewarded, but concious buyers always put under the guillotine.
This is Western civilization, where lobbyist (from Carriers) buys lawmakers or organisations (in this case, CWTA), who make laws to rip the poor and second class citizen; and the rich and thieves keep getting richer.

Quote from CWTA,
http://cwta.ca/blog/2013/09/30/canada...

"“Canadians are among the world’s fastest adopters and heaviest users of sophisticated smartphones,” said CWTA President & CEO Bernard Lord. “Not only will this national blacklist help to make their smartphones a less valuable target for criminals, but the industry has also taken steps to help Canadian consumers identify if a pre-owned device has previously been reported as lost or stolen.”
"

The name Bernard LORD gives away what kind of person he is.. He is lord, we are slaves. The lord says "i give u protection from evil", but in the end we are the fools to believe in thy Lord, who was just a evil in Lord's mask.

Yes, totally useless. By the same token, a seatbelt will not save your life if your car gets hit by a train so it's better to cut them out entirely. If you report a phone as lost or stolen it's flagged in Koodo's system immediately and with all providers within 48 hrs. The fact that you can still get burned in case of subscription fraud does not invalidate the fact that a thief does not get rewarded for stealing your phone. The fact that your handset is flagged for subscription fraud can also be remedied by submitting a request to Koodo's fraud team. They will contact you within a few days, verify that you have no connection to the fraudulent account and unflag the handset. Now quit acting like koodo has murdered your firstborn, call tech support and get the issue dealt with.

You should read the comments above. I did contact koodo. Koodo said, its virgin's phone. Virgin says its not my phone. CWTA says its not blacklisted. Koodo says "yes its blacklisted"...
Askes koodo to help me, they said, Virgin can help u. Virgin says, its not even our phone. And u keep going on and on in a circle. There is nothing called "Unblacklist".

Have you actually SPOKEN to anyone at Virgin? Because all you've posted here is an auto-generated result that say they couldn't identify your imei number. And while it is your right to "alert the media", the plain, honest truth is that no national media company is going to give you front page coverage because one phone ought from a 3rd party will not work with your cell phone provider.

Zero luck = no other website says my IMEI blocked, only Koodo.

THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE HANDSET.
The phone is not working because of a flag set within the koodo network. Tech support has access to the network. I don't. I do not have any way to change internal settings on a network I don't have access to. For the record, neither would Stephen Hawking.
