Nexus 5 Lte / Network Lag - Unable to find towers, really weak connection. (Google Order Phone)

Hello,

My New Nexus 5 just came in a few weeks ago. I absolutely love it, amazing phone. I will never buy a NON Nexus again.

After ferociously un boxing my new toy, I updated the APN. It seemed to have worked as planned. Me being on WiFi 90% of the day, made me not realize how weak the network signal is.

I have tried adjusting APNs, and proxys as per some discussions on the forums.

Still not working the way it should. I know it is the phone, and not my location because my s3 had no issues with full network in these areas. Is it a tower update I need?

Please advise!! I don't want to start negativity on this handset, because its honestly amazing.

Sorry if this is in another section, I just couldn't find an exact answer to this.

I would suggest trying to get a new sim card first, and then see if that helps. Also, what information is currently in the koodo APN that you updated?

Would I really need a new one, I just bought one about a year ago when I got the s3. Do they have newer versions that may connect better?

Make sure that in both areas of your apn where it asks for the proxy address that you have this in the area: Proxy server: 74.49.0.18

That is what I had to begin with, but was informed to remove it. It helped a bit. I am going to go back and try to add it. See what happens.
To set up my LG G2 I had delete apn then search network operators add koodo rat lte. then re add the apn. I was having trouble sending pics. now it works fine

Sorry for the multiple shots. This is as per Koodos APN list.

I have tried variations as well. This is current though.

North Mississauga is my current location, and for the speed test I posted.

Try manually searching for towers by going to settings - more - mobile networks - network operators and let it search for towers , when it finishes after a minute or so a list will pop up select Koodo and that's it.
This has worked for me in the past with a few phones when I was getting bad signal .

Thanks Paul, but that is part of the issue. I should have specified what I meant by unable to find towers. It will not find anything. It just times out after a few minutes.

I will attempt again, and post status.

Found Koodo. Took about 4 minutes. Still the same connectivity.

How does it work when it's switched to run on 3G instead of LTE ? If it runs fine on 3G which is what I use my N5 on then I'd just use it on 3G as LTE kills the battery in devices nearly twice as fast (about 35% actually)from my tests I've done using a couple galaxy Note 2's with one running on LTE and the other on 3G. As the battery isn't great on the N5 I'd try it as it will save you battery life and should connect much much better .

Already a better connection. Now up to a solid H connection. At least its a bit better than 3g.
