Please get the LG Google Nexus 4. I've been rocking my Koodo Nexus S for the 2 years now. It's time to upgrade.

Thanks!

Looks like play store (play.google.com) -> shop devices will have the Nexus 4 available for direct purchase on Nov 13. Just slip in your Koodo SIM and you are good to go.

Edit for fun factor updated url:

edit2: fix'd broken url.

Koodo will most probably not get this as it is a top-tier phone - and that's not Koodo's game.

Sorry, bud. It would be awesome if they did, but realistically not happening. You're gonna have to shell out for this on your own if you want it.

The Blackberry Bold is selling for more than the Nexus 4 is right now, so I think there's a chance they will go for it. A very high tier Android phone for a low price could entice customers to go with Koodo.

Don't count on it going for cheap though.
Online retailers as well as carriers like TMobile have confirmed that unless you get it from the Google Play Store it'll cost upwards of 499$.

Similar with Europe, non play store has the phone priced at (euro symbol)599 in Italy - I suspect it will not be offered through carriers in Canada.

Apparently T-Mobile was the only one who was willing to offer the phone unmodified, the remainder of the companies just had to get their fingers into it. I suspect the same will be true for Canadian carriers and the play store would be the cheapest option.

Hey silver cloud this is a dead thread from over a year ago so there's no need to respond to it man. Congrats on the great deal however. Curious how much of the cost of each phone was put ontthe tab? I'm guessing $150 on the tab and $50 cash up front so the actual price of each phone was $200?

Good hints guys, but you never know with Kood, it always surprises his customers, who ever thoughts that Koodo will come with (LTE 4G) and Iphone 5, regarding Nexus 4, wait and see - did you forgot the word called competition, if others will bring it to their network, why not Koodo, he is a big fighter like his big Mascot .

Other than the Iphone5, name me a top tier phone that Koodo has offered.

+1. Moreover, the iPhone5 was a contractual obligation - if Koodo wanted to sell iPhones at ALL, they'd HAVE to sell iPhone5s....

So, Koodo isn't willingly stocking top-tier phones, never has, and hasn't shown inclination of it either, if their grand new phone announcement was the LG L3.

Although.... now that the price of some of these new phones is closer to the $300 than the $600 mark, one can only hope....

Three cheers for Koodo having a top tier phone briefly two years ago? Hip Hip Hooray...

The whole iPhone thing is hilarious as well. Originally it was "we're different, we don't have contracts!" Then the iphone comes out. "Now we have contracts!"

Was it Top Tier when Koodo launched it? Nope. It was originally released on Dec22 2010. Koodo didn't get it until April 7 2011(which is odd, I thought they had it before that, but meh, moot point). So you're looking at atleast 4 months, which during that time I'm sure there was 1-2 other phones that came out that were ahead of the Nexus S. Granted, this is just from my point of view, I could have my facts slightly wrong. It's not to say that the Nexus S isn't a great phone, because it is. I still use it until I have enough money to switch to the S3.

That would be awesome if Koodo could bring this to their network and knock a few bucks off with the tab, or even a special term like the iphones have would be great.

Unfortunately we do know though. When Koodo is planning on bringing out a new phone that's somewhat decent, we're all made well aware of it and they have no problem confirming. Look at the iphone 5, we knew months ahead of time that it would be available, and they went out of their way to make splash pages on the website about it. The problem is though, we've only ever seen this with the iphone, because that's essentially the only "top-tier" phone they're ever brought out. When you ask about any other high end device, the S3/9900/Nokia 920, you're given the "we can't comment on future devices". It's pretty easy to read between the lines. It doesn't change anything of course, if you want a Nexus on Koodo you can easily bring it over, but expecting that Koodo will all of a sudden change their device lineup policy, when it's been pretty clear for years now that they aren't in the business of offering high end devices themselves, isn't really realistic. Also, Koodo isn't in the business of being competitive, they're in the business of trying to maximize profits for Telus. They aren't an independently owned and operated network, by design, Koodo exists to supplement the Telus portfolio, while taking potential customers from Bell and Rogers without infringing too much on Telus. If Koodo actually was an independent network, you'd certainly see a phone lineup to rival Rogers/Telus/Bell, because without it they'd be dead in the water.

Koodo's goal has always been to offer affordable phones, not top tier phones. It's been like that from day 1. Koodo is competitive with the PLANs, not phones. If you REALLY want a specific phone, get it and unlock it.

Of course you can do that, you can do that with ANY carrier. But every other carrier in this country offers competitive plans AND a competitive device lineup . Koodo doesn't. It makes perfect sense that people don't particularly like this policy.

The Google Play Store is the only place you'll get it for that price without a contract from a carrier because Google subsidizes it - makes 0$ profit from the purchase of the device.

I am happy I triggered a constructive discusion here with this phone lineups, it is true about what Mattjs said, same way Bell did with Virgin/Solo and Rogers with Fido, I told you, it is all about "canadian competition succesful story", it is all in the benefit of canadian consumers!

Even though this is a top tier phone, it is affordable so it does fit in to Koodo's philosophy. So maybe there is hope that it will be offered.

Also Virgin offers alternative top-tier phones and is increasingly positioning itself as a brand that is not specifically "value" but complements Bell's offerings. I can see Telus trying to leverage the Koodo brand to bring in higher average monthlies, and the only way to do it is with data (now that the bottom is dropping out of airtime and extras).

I will probably buy one anyway but I would prefer dealing locally with the carrier just in case there are issues. I have no problem letting Koodo take the markup and make the sale than the Play Store even if it meant paying a bit more initially for the phone.

The only thing my husband has asked for for Christmas is a Nexus 4. If Google Play will hurry up and get more inventory, I plan on getting him one. It's unlocked and he's going to set it up on his Koodo account. No matter the phone we will NEVER go with a carrier other than Koodo.

If you cant get the Nexus 4 and really want to get him a phone for Christmas get the Galaxy S3, its an amazing phone with a ton more features then the very powerful but very basic Nexus 4. Im sure he'll love it when he starts playing with it and all the features it has now and the features it will be getting with the update to Jelly Bean which is bringing many of the features that are present on the Galaxy Note 2 like floating video and split screen to run 2 apps at the same time. Cant do those with a Nexus 4 ;-) Koodo will be offering the Galaxy S3 starting November 30th, but act fast because theyll sell out fast and then youll be left in the same perdiciment as you are now trying to find a Nexus 4 from the playstore. - KID ANDROID (Team.Android.Canada)

The Nexus 4 is way better than the S3 and the price is WAY more affordable. Any SLIGHT advantage that the S3 may have had compared to the Nexus 4 is crushed by the price difference. Even still, the Nexus 4's hardware is better than the S3 overall

No its not, I take it you have or are getting the Nexus 4? Its made by LG which isnt a good thing at all. It looks nice and has a powerful processor and that is all. You cant disagree that its as basic as Android gets and that the S3 crushes it in features. The price from a carrier is about the same so unless you get it from the playstore the features outweigh the price.

Oh and the S3 has expandable memory where the Nexus 4 your stuck at the 8 or 16gb you get. Oh and it doesnt have a removable battery. Oh and it has terrible battery life that can barely make it through a day, should I keep going. Its got better hardware lol thats funny. A processor isnt everything, dont get me wrong I love my quad core in my Galaxy Note 2 but my original Galaxy Note with a dual core was fairly fast. All these issues make it worth getting the Galaxy S3 for an extra $200.
The Nexus 4 has one more advantage and thats updates are faster but who cares if your going to get them eventually anyways and the phone runs fine until those updates.

the Nexus 4 is meant to be an unlocked phone that you can easily switch to.
Unfortunately you can not purchase it from a phone dealer, it has to be purchased online, it's supposed to be a good priced high end phone that can easily use your current sim card, so no it will most likely not be on Koodo

I'm still holding out for a Nexus 4 too, I missed the 4 minute window that had the 16GB version on sale on Nov. 13.

Comparable flagship phones start at like $550 (Galaxy S3) and could go up to $700.

I would get the HTC One X+ if it wasn't $650

But if Koodo got it and sold it with markup I would get it too on the tab. Koodo's Android phone options are not very good. (Except for the galaxy S3 which just launched today)

Let's try to be respectful guys. Overall Koodo hasn't received much high-end phones except for a few (SIII, iPhone, etc) So there is a small chance that they might get the Nexus 4, who knows? Make sure you have liked Koodo's Facebook page because they do all of their announcements there.

mattjs sorry but I dont know what I said other than to state what is going on in the mobile world which is what this forum is about, mobile devices. I do have a love for Android & I have begun a FB Page to assist ppl in getting the most enjoyment out of their Android devices which is where my so called self appointed moniker is from. I hope to expand upon that also. I have actually had a couple websites that have commented on my moniker and that its a great idea to get noticed and remembered. I have also had a major website offer me to write an article for them on the Android OS as a special guest writer which Im sure I wouldnt have gotten offered if they didnt remember my comments as a collective because of it. So say what you want but it seems to be working for me. If you dont like it or the truth behind the mobile industry then dont read what I have to say, its as easy as that isnt it? -KID ANDROID (Team.Android.Canada)

You really put that wrong, tbh.
The Nexus 4 is a non-contract non-carrier specific phone. In North America, Google has made sure it is to be only made available on their store.

You pay for the phone outright and never a bound by contract.

The phone is available on the Google Play website;

8GB $309 CDN>> https://play.google.com/store/devices...
16GB $359 CDN>> https://play.google.com/store/devices...

They are currently experiencing a big rush, so expect the phones to be available in a few months.

Unfortunately this also means that these phones can't make their way to the Koodo store for "tab-ability", but given their low outright cost, it seems like a good enough bargain to purchase yourself, should you desire the phone.

Hope this helps, have a great day. :)

You can always get the Nexus 4 from elsewhere and bring it to Koodo and if you do so you may be eligible for the 10% SIM only activation discount. It's cheaper at the Google plays tore than any provider can offer anyways. Also Koodo is getting the Galaxy S4 which is a better phone
