Nexus 5 phone life

Starting last night I've been experiencing weird start up and battery life issues with my Nexus 5. I've only had it for a year and two months. I charged it over night and it was only at 22% charged. When I unplugged it and went out shortly after, it went up to 26%. Additionally, it took almost all day today to get to 96%. I've never had this issue before until now.

Suggestions on solutions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance.

There seems to be a problem with your charger maybe? Try charging it while turning off the phone to see if the problem is draining the battery life or if the charger isn't chargin enough

Hi, Samantha
I personally have a nexus 5 that I use as a daily driver and I have had the exact same issue. First, I unplugged the whole thing and retried everything and I found out that it was a problem with the cable of the micro-usb charger but not the phone. Many other customers have had the same issue too and most of them have figured it out by replacing their chargers. I don't think there is a problem with the phone's battery because it eventually did charge up to 96% as you have mentioned.
Hope this helps:)

I've tried turning it off for a good 5 to 6 hours to let it have a chance to charge but like I said, it was only at 22%. Usually my Nexus 5 would've been charged for a good chunk already.

I switch between three micro-usb cords, two different adapters and went out to purchase two new micro-usb cords and still had the same slow charging issue.

The 96% didn't last very long either. It's frustrating that I have to put my phone on airplane mode in HOPES of making it through the later half of my day today (...I wasn't successful).

Is it time for a new battery? Thoughts? If so, who do I contact/where do I go?

I think you are correct. It might be the time for a battery exchange.
For a battery exchange unfortunately, Koodo doesn't repair embedded batteries like the Nexus 5 in store so they will send it to the company for repair and will charge you lots. My recommendation is to go to a local, nearby smartphone store and ask them to exchange the battery for you. I believe the cost will be around anywhere from 30~50 dollars. However, if you know that you are a very capable technician yourself, you can purchase the actual battery online and follow steps to replace it yourself. (The process of doing it yourself will save you some extra bucks:)
Here is a site that could help you if you decide to do it by yourself:
