New plan

I may be an employee of Koodo but this is my own opinion and does not reflect anyone else at Koodo.

This is basically a slap in the face for the customers across Canada. I'm sorry.

I just noticed on the site under Quebec that the $75 data plan has dropped to $60 but ONLY in Quebec. I have seen the suggestion to have the $75 drop in price across all provinces. Why wasn't that done instead?

Here is the suggestion, please stop discriminating provinces.
Make the 3gb data plan the same price across the board. People will jump on that and it will increase customer satisfaction.

You seem to be a little too sensitive to our provincial differences Tyler. :-) We already have different costs from province to provice on a slew things. Milk, gas, insurance, internet, cable, taxes etc.

I hazard to guess that this new koodo plan was brought on by videotron introducing theirs. I just looked and rogers has a $60 plan now too. Only in Quebec. It's a fact of life. :-)

Makes perfect sense. I just don't like customers getting the short end of the stick. I know there will be quite a few unhappy customers as a result. Nothing against Quebec. I wanted to make that part clear lol

The majority of what I do is to make sure, regardless of the situation, that the customers end the call with a "smile." Sounds corny but it's true. Koodo prides themselves on customer satisfaction and so do I. See this recent plan change only in one provice will not boost customer satisfaction nationwide. That was basically what I was getting across. Am I passionate about customer satisfaction? Yes. I think that much is obvious. hahaha

Like Chris said... Koodo does what's in interest of both customers and Koodo, since videotron did it only in Qc. and not in another province, it's obvious that this is not definitely discrimination, what would you respond to Videotron Rogers, striking long-term network sharing deal, spectrum agreement just in Qc.?

That's why it's just my opinion. I knew there would be those that didn't agree and that's fine. I do understand to a point why that decision was made. The part that urked me was the suggestion I saw previously about making that $75 more reasonable across the board.

I understand and respect everyone's input in this. I do admit I could've worded it better but at least you all got the jist of it lol

Then we can ask Koodo to offer the 5gb for 60$ plan with unlimited nation wide call for every province.

Canada's population is 36 millions, Quebec population is 8 million
That's like a quarter of Canada, therefor we should have better prices than 3/4 of canada because we provide more income to the telecomunications companies. The reason why Ontario is not benefiting of this is because of high salaries and lower taxes in comparison to quebec which has lower salaries and higher taxes

You probably shouldn't look at the plans available in Manitoba and Saskatchewan then. But as Chris said, traditionally these plans are to match another carriers pricing in those provinces. With companies like MTS, SaskTel, and Videotron, which are only available in those areas, they need to try and compete.

These provincial "deals" need to die, plain and simple. The SK/MB 5GB plan should be made available Canada-wide, simple as that. No complaining, no feeling ripped off compared to other Canadians. Carriers have a way to complicate things for themselves and their customers... The more confusing, the merrier, or so it seems.

While I would love to have these plans available everywhere, I do understand why they are there, especially in Manitoba.

I understand why these provinces have them as well, the government(s) have made provisions to ensure competition, in order to provide their constituents (customers) with better value and more choices, which is clearly working.

The question is, why shouldn't provisions be made nation wide (mandated by the CRTC), instead of leaving these practices up to local governments?

The current system just creates localized pockets of value and competition, while the majority of the population continues to have Robellus dictate market rates, which happen to be some of the highest in the free world.

The plans in Sask/Man/QC just prove that Rogers/Bell/Telus/etc are perfectly capable of being profitable while offering current plans at a substantially lower rate. However, until they have a reason to do so everywhere else, they simply won't, as their is no incentive or competition that justifies lowering the current price or increasing the services/features included.

And like it's been mentioned already, since our great great leaders....er, carriers pride themselves all the time about being Canada-wide, offering the same stuff "Canada-wide" would be a good start. When even the employees agree, there's food for thought.

I've already expressed my opinion that the CRTC should make region-specific pricing illegal. National brand = national prices.

The current state of the market allows the large players to compete only in regions where they face stiff local competition.

it was one of the things I mentioned when I filled out the CRTC Cell Phone provider Code of Conduct. Along with locked phones being illegal

Same here, though I didn't ask for locked phones to be made illegal. I suggested that phones purchased outright be unlocked immediately upon request for free (same for phones whose balance has been paid off).

That would be fair as well. I think I could live with that compromise.
I also suggested that the CRTC eliminate Canadian long distance minutes. With a country that is extremely mobile I felt that the days of Canadian long distance charges is a thing of the past.

I agree with this post 100%.

I'm surprised no one is saying this post is about this generation being greedy or entitled. That companies can offer whatever they want and that it is our choice to choose them or what not :p

It's all in jest. There is a small group that believes this and a small group that believes the opposite. But everyone's opinion is valid. If we cant laugh at ourselves and at each other then it would be a sad sad world. Besides the squeaky wheel gets the grease. So gimmie gimmie does have it's effect

I would like to point out that because of our regulations Koodo normally excludes QC from contests and giveaways. So a little love sent our way is Tres bien.

Merci

Yes, but as you said that's due to your overly restrictive provincial legislation when it comes to giveaways.

Personally, I'd rather receive your prices (available to every resident) versus our contests (a lucky few winners).

I got the Saskatchewan plan because I was from Saskatchewan and I ported in my Rogers Alberta number. Got 5GB of data for $60 and when I ported my number it erased the 911 fees.
