New plans unfair to existing customers!

The new plans that you have implemented suck. You try and make it seem like you are doing the customers a favour but your screwing them. New customers might think it is a good deal but your current customers get screwed if they ever want to upgrade, like I do now. No matter which way you spin it, I will pay more every month then I do now. Previously the tab was paid off from 10% taken off the monthly bill, nothing out of my pocket. Now I have to pay the entire balance of my phone. The worst part is the original plans were available when the phone I want first came out but no stores in my area actually ever had them and still don't have them so I have been royally screwed. You make it seem like you're "helping" the customer but you're screwing them out of 150 dollars. Gee thanks!

Unfortunately there is some truth to this statement. No matter what, existing customers have to pay more than they used to. Tab S/M was working pretty well and this kind of threw a wrench into things.

Chelsea, what are you trying to do/want?

Maybe we can find the best option for you?

What is your current grandfathered plan?
What is the new phone you want?
Do you currently have an exisiting tab?

I want the samsung edge which I have been waiting for two months for. None of the stores have it because apparently no one wants it but there is about 15 people on a waitlist for it. My current plan is 45 dollars and I get 1 GB and 400 anytime minutes with free after 5 and unlimited texts plus all the other general stuff. My tab from the phone I have is paid off and I am getting 10% credit every month now (I currently have 11 dollars credit). Even worse is that I called koodo yesterday and was on hold for 30 mins waiting for the guy to call my local stores to see who carried it and he found one. I went all the way there and they did not have it, never did - they have the 6 but not the edge.

I just hate that when the phone came out the plan I want was available but no one had the phone. That's not my fault they cannot keep up with demand but in the meantime they changed everything and now I cannot get it.

Ok so Koodo has had horrible supplies of the Edge. In general, Koodo has Target level failures when it comes to phone inventory.

Your best bet is to find an unlocked one online or direct from a Samsung store if your city has one. If not, then you will have to wait. Dont be surprised if you end up wait for a couple months :(

Regarding your plan, if you see a plan that you like, switch to it right away! Since your tab was paid off, you can switch to any available plan when ever you want. I know this doesnt help right now, but in the future you will now know.

Honestly nothing i can say will prove you wrong, you are right, these new plans are only advantageous if your current plan is not as good. But if you have a good expired plan then there is no advantage.

I miss the 10% discount when you bring in your own device but you guys ended that!

They just built that into the new plans. Originally 1GB was $60 - 10% = $54 for BYOD, now it's actually just $53 so that isn't the problem. The problem is subsidies for existing customers who upgrade. They end up paying more because their plans don't give them a subsidy anymore.

And unless the 10% discount was already added before hand, they can get it anymore, which really sucks.

And what's worse, if you have the 10% off discount, and you buy a phone outright (without using the Tab), the 10% discount again lost.

From Koodo's website:
If you really want to hang on to your existing plan and your 10% discount, you can always bring your unlocked phone to Koodo.

It doesn't make sense at all.
If you buy a phone outright from Koodo, you will loose 10% discount.
If you bring a phone from elsewhere, you can keep 10% discount .

Koodo really should change about that. Allowed to keep your plan and 10% if you buy a phone outright from Koodo. Because you are not entering their new tab system.

Yeah, I've been with koodo for a few years now, and love the plan I have. The new plans are terrible and I can no longer recommend this company to people I know. Also, when my plan is up, I'm going to start shopping around if things haven't improved.

Yes always shop around.  However if your old plan is awesome, I doubt any other place will be able to beat it as every one seems to have similar plans out there.  Kinda sucks
