I just set up this account with koodo. I have the $60 plan with 1gb of data. I was told i had 10 days of free data from the gentlemen who set up my phone. I just had a notification that i had approached 2gb of data used. Just very confused. I thought i had no data charges until jan 11.

Does it actually list a charge beside the usage? If you want to make sure you're not getting charged for the usage, you can call *611

Are you sure your billing cycle starts on jan 11?

What does your self serve say your billing cycle starts at?

Where did you set up your phone that they told you you get 10 days of free data?

Sorry i checked my papers and billing starts january 7. The data usage on my self serve page says none used. It says i have 1024mb of data. Im so not a techy person...is that the same as 1gb? I am supposed to have 1gb a month. I bought the phone and set it up at the lynden park mall in brantford, Ontario

If I read between the lines, you've used almost 2 gb between Jan 2 and NOW, Jan 4, if you are under the impression that it's free till the 12th, so you are still within the 10 day window?

Check the promoted responses for background:

I am not a company spokesman, but from what I have read, the 10 days is not a free all-you-can-eat buffet, but a "calibration period" without overage charges for you to test how much data you really need. It is expected that you will adjust your plan according to your actual habits at the end of this period.

Most phones have a data watch app. Set it up to warn you when 85% of your plan is reached. Data usage reports on self-serve pages often 48 hours delayed with most carriers.

I GB sounds like a lot, but landline internet plans are often in the 200 GB per month range, so you may have to police your usage.

You should call Koodo now while you are still within the 10-day window. Please let us know how you make out.

If you are new to koodo they indeed give you 10 days of free data. That's exactly what we got. You will still get their notifications on how much you used, but no charges for the first ten days.

Well now you have a chance to see how things work without breaking the bank initially.

Sounds like you are off to a good start in the new year.
