Added 30Text international roaming plan on Feb 12th, 2016 from Canada. Today, after being in Australia since Feb 15th, I get a text from Koodo saying "Welcome to Australia, you have no add-ons roaming".

Concerned about getting dinged for roaming since I've gotten that text message (~2 hours), I simply try to subscribe to the 30Text plan again but I get a text saying "That add-on is already enabled". This contradicts the text I got saying I had no add-ons for roaming.

I'm really not too sure what is happening right now. Is this a leap year kind of bug?  I've powered my phone off as I don't want to receive a huge bill for voice roaming even though I feel like I am within my 30 days so there should be no issue.

How do I verify that my 75 text add-on is still working and that I do have a roaming add-on?

My phone is an Android Galaxy Core. My usual plan is the 30$ unlimited messaging with 100 minutes.

Thanks,
Charles

  • NB 911 Government Fee$0.53
  • International Roaming$0.00
  • Data Block$0.00
Thanks,

Charles, what you have added on Feb 12th was the $15 30 day text add on. Exactly as you mentioned it is good for 75 outgoing and unlimited incoming text messages. I do see it on your account and it is valid till March 13th. Not sure why the text you just received was triggered. All seems fine from what I can see. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

HI Bernard,

Thanks for looking into this!

I guess I should have said I am concerned to get charged for international roaming when I should have a plan for this because of my international texting plan. Is there a way for you to check to make sure my account is not flagged as having charges for international roaming?

I'm hesitant to turn my phone back on and to have to dispute a huge international roaming charge when I get back to Canada or on my next bill..

I would like to be very confident that everything is ok and no extra charges will go towards my account because of the text I received today.

Thanks,
Charles

Charles, just to be clear...you do have the add-on that you purchased as I stated above. It is good for texting. In order to use you do have to turn your phone back on. Now, this is a text package and does not include any data usage. If you have any apps currently open on your phone I would suggest to turn them off so you don't incur data charges that you don't want. I hope to this clarifies things a little more. I attached a picture of part of your account that shows the add-on being on.

Is it possible he received a message because he used up 75 texts?
But it's still within 30days, so add-on shows him he still have add-on...?

Good suggestion Mayumi! I double checked his service and it's not because he used 75 texts.  From what I can tell, the cause of the SMS he received seems to be a system glitch.

Thanks all!  And yes Mayumi, I only sent 8 outgoing texts so far. Nice to hear this was a system glitch and that everything is ok.
