Is the phone an old Koodo or Telus phone? If not, is it unlocked from the previous provider?

Can you test the sim out in another Koodo phone?

@Shaunda:
I would check if the phone is in normal condition and the SIM was inserted correctly. The S5 is using microSIM? Was it working before? I would also try to reset the network settings of it. Settings --> Backup and reset --> Reset network settings.

I did all of this. The phone hasn't had a sim in it for quite sometime. My kid was using it to play games on

I will be hard to figure out problems as you did almost all the tricks. I would suggest you visit a Koodo Kiosk or find someone who has a working phone to test the SIM and phone.

As Dinh said try someone else's sim in this phone. If it works then your prepaid Koodo sim is bad. If it doesnt work then something is wrong with your phone.
