I am looking to get a phone(UMIDIGI Z1 Pro. formally known as UMI) with the following network specs, would it work with Koodo?

2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 900/2100MHz
4G: FDD-LTE 800/1800/2100/2600MHz

Hi Kesavan,

Unfortunately, this device is not compatible with Koodo's network. Koodo does not operate a 2G network. Koodo uses 850/1900 MHz (for 3G/4G) and 1700/2100 MHz AWS (for LTE).

It may work with LTE-A which uses 2600.

Until VoLTE comes out, and assuming the phone has VoLTE capabilities , you'll only get data where there is lte-A coverage.

I don't think that'll make a difference. If Koodo follows suit with the other carriers in regards to VoLTE, it will only work with Koodo retail phones (not other phones used as BYOD on the Koodo network).

I know Rogers does that. They lock down VoLTE to their devices only (IMEI has to be in their system). I assume Telus is the same.

Suggestion: when shopping on the internet, look for gear that is AT&T compatible, since most overseas suppliers will have no knowledge of Koodo.
