I cannot get online with my motto g phone. It has a red triangle with plus sign up in corner and also looks like black squiggle line in grey box.

The red triangle means you have no service but you are still able to place emergenc calls. Try taking your sim card out and reinserting it after about 30 seconds and reboot your device. By online, did you mean using data?

Please try a different USB cable and a different power source. Does the problem persist?

With your phone powered off completely and connected to your computer via USB, press and hold the Volume down button first, then press and hold the Power button (in that order) and hold together for about 15-20 seconds, then let go of both buttons. You should see a screen with blue text titled 'Boot Mode Selection Menu', (see image below).

Leave the phone on this screen for approximately 15 seconds, your computer should show a quick message that drivers are being installed, (assuming that you're running a Windows PC). After you've seen the message or the 15 seconds have elapsed, press the Volume Up button which will select Normal Powerup.

The phone will reboot and should be able to charge. At the top of your screen, you should see a lightning bolt or an animated battery filling up, indicating that the phone is charging.
