My son's phone, an android, is suddenly posting "non registered SIM card" whenever he tries to use it. .???

The sim may have been faulty,I suggest taking out the battery and sim and putting them back in if it still says non registered you might need to buy a new sim. Also if it's just that you are getting no service make sure your phone is not set to 2g only or gsm only and make sure it has 3g enabled. :)

If the above doesn't work is the account all paid up or could it be suspended for any other reason?

Thanks to you both. Yes, account is all paid up so I will try Daniel's suggestion. The phone is over a year old though, wouldn't the card have messed up earlier than this if it was faulty? Hmmm....

The SIM card can stop working at any time without any warning. They are usually durable little chips, but failures aren't that uncommon.

Yeah it most likely would have messed up sooner but you never really know
